1950's Wooden foundry pattern casting sprue/ stem. Originally used in the process of casting architectural metalwork components by the architectural ironwork company Singer & James Ltd. Singer and James were a renowned British metalwork company that created various decorative and structural elements for noted buildings throughout the UK including metalwork at Billingsgate fish market. The creation of these patterns was a skilled time consuming craft prior to laser technology and a specialised industrial art unto itself. Hand crafted to accurate drawings, each pattern made would be unique to the company using the finished cast components. What was once a hand made functional vintage industrial item, now provides great appeal as a one-off piece of wall art or decorative display item. Heavy ply back board with decorative wooden detail. Cleaned and hand waxed to highlight attractive age worn marks.
